A transponder is a small electronic device that is fitted to your car whilst racing at your club, this emits a signal that is then picked up by a loop usually under the track near the start/finish line, the race control computer then uses this signal to calculate you lap times and race result.
Hand Out Transponders
At most cubs hand out transponders can be collected from race control immediately prior to your race and correspond to your car number. Please remember to return it after your race as it will be required by another driver for a subsequent race. Please also note some clubs and most national events no longer use hand outs and you will need your own Personal Transponder. Please check with the race meeting organisers before booking in.
Personal Transponders
More and more drivers are now using their own PT (personal transponder) in preference to the traditional hand transponders. If you purchase a PT it can be permanently fitted to your car eliminating the need to be constantly collecting and returning hand out transponders. The PT has its own unique frequency identified by a code number on the unit. Just inform the meeting organisers of your PT number at booking in and forget all about it.
Where can I get my own Personal Transponder
Most clubs will be able to get you a PT at a slightly reduced price if the club were to by a quantity in one go. You can order you own PT direct from.............
